FAQs

  • The Montreal Academy of Metal Arts Studio is located at 5445 Avenue De Gaspé, Suite 613, Montreal, Quebec, H2T 3B2

  • We offer an 8-module training program in jewellery techniques and each module covers different techniques and takes approximately 32 hours to complete.

Our courses offer several modules within the same class to allow students to be at different stages in their training.

For more information on what is taught in each module please refer to our Curriculum section

  • Module 1 is for beginner exercises, Module 2 is an overview of wax techniques, Module 3 is for simple stone setting.

For more information on what is taught in each module please refer to our Curriculum section

During any given session in the same classroom, there will be students enrolled in a class who are starting with module 1, those who have reached module 2 and others who have reached module 3.

The instructor covers the techniques each student needs based on where they are in the module program.

  • The skill level of different students varies greatly, which is why some students are able to do all the exercises before others are able to complete them.

We want all students to be comfortable with the techniques they are learning before moving on to the next exercise.

We encourage students to go at their own pace. You pay for each session and each session consists of 6 to 8 classes. Some students could take 8 or more classes to complete a module or, they can take less than 8 classes and start a new module in the same session.

You will pick-up wherever you are in the Modules program at the next session.

Generally speaking a module takes approximately 32 hours to complete

  • The materials used are brass and silver and you can buy what you need at the studio. The average cost of materials per session is $50 to $100.

  • You can continue your training in modules 4 to 8 with Intermediate to advanced classes or 4 to 8 in stone setting modules.

Check the curriculum for more information.

  • In Personal Projects you can pursue projects that are different from the curriculum listed in our modules.

For Personal Projects on Sunday’s you must have a least 1 module or the equivalent 32 hours of training.

For Personal Projects on Tuesday’s it is preferable that you have one module or the equivalent 32 hours of training although beginners are allowed. If you are a beginner you will always start with module 1

  • Sometimes due to vacations (e.g. Christmas) or teacher availability or due to the length and no. of classes in a session, we might have classes that are less than 32 hours.

  • The teacher has an assistant when there are more than 8 students. The maximum number of students is 8 during the day and 10 for evenings and weekends.
