Specialized Classes Fall 2025

Introduction to Enamel and Cloisonné

Instructor: Gayane Avetisyan

Black and white portrait of a woman with dark hair, wearing a top and earrings, looking slightly to the side with a pleasant expression.
  • Bilingual class

  • Monday afternoon

  • October 20 to November 24, 2025

  • 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm

  • 6 classes of 4 hours

  • $385.00 ( taxes not included )

  • Materials - $65.00 paid to the Instructor over the course of the class

This course will be divided into 3 parts:

The first class will be an introduction to the world of enameling. You will create your own sample pieces on copper, using different traditional and alternative enameling techniques.

The second, third and fourth classes will be an introduction to the cloisonné process:

Cloisonné involves creating compartments, or cloisons, on the fine silver surface, usually with thin strips of fine silver wire. Then we fill those compartments with different colours of enamel. The object is then fired in a kiln to melt and fuse the enamel, resulting in a colourful, intricate design.

Students will practise the cloisonné technique on two pieces, one silver and one copper.

The fifth and sixth classes will be to finalize and polish the enamel work and for framing of the pieces.

The pieces you make can be transformed into wearable art, small scale art objects or prototypes for future works.

“I loved this course and recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about 3D software for jewellery Norsola is an excellent, passionate and experienced teacher who patiently guides us through the learning process. The course book is very well laid out, making it easy to follow the techniques and to remake the jewellery on our own. The bonus is the presence of 3D printers on site which allows us to directly put our knowledge into practice and design our projects. "
